Creating plot files is still the most error proof method of
transferring digital files to a printer. Plot files can be created from any
application that has the ability to print. What needs to be done is:
A) Create
a fictional printer. We recommend the HP DesignJet 500. Download the printer
driver, and install it through
Windows.

Select Local printer as the
printer type.

The installation wizard will ask
which port the device is connected to. Select "File". Accept the defaults from
there on out.
Note: AutoCAD
users do not need to go through the
above steps. AutoCAD uses it's own printer
drivers which are included with the program. Click here for detailed
instructions for AutoCAD (264k .exe).
B) Open
your document and select print. When to print window comes up, select the
fictional printer (in our case the HP DesignJet 500). Setup the print as if
this full size plotter existed in your office (size, position, etc.). If your
software has a print preview option, I highly recommend that you use it now.
When everything looks good press "Print" or "OK".
C) Save
the file to an easy to find location. They will have a .prn extention (.plt
from AutoCAD).
D) Send
the file to A/E Graphics for printing. |
